Backend development,
architecturally aware, for distributed systems.

I’m Peter Ibuyat — a senior backend engineer with 10+ years shipping production systems across banking, government, healthcare, hospitality, and SaaS. I’m a developer first, with the architectural awareness to design services, workflows, and integrations that hold up in the real world.

01 — About

A developer who builds, ships, and runs the systems.

I’ve spent the last decade going deep on backend development — from VB.NET line-of-business systems in shipping and healthcare, to AWS-backed microservices in BPO, to banking integrations at Metrobank and ING. I’m a developer first, with the architectural awareness to make sensible decisions about service boundaries, data, and integration. I’m equally comfortable in C#, in SQL tuning windows, in CI/CD pipelines, and in the production logs at 2am.

My work tends to live where business logic meets infrastructure: integration layers between core banking systems, workflow engines with approval chains, multi-tenant portals with row-level security, and the operational tooling teams quietly depend on every day. I prefer writing the code, then letting the architecture emerge from real constraints — not the other way around.

I've led PH-based development teams, structured hiring, stood up CI/CD from scratch with bash, and contributed to DDD-based microservices on AWS. Outside of enterprise work I design and run member, volunteer, and event systems for churches and ministries — small in scope, real in production, and a great place to keep practicing pragmatic, hands-on engineering.

Real systems. Real production. Real tradeoffs.

A selection of work spanning banking, government, healthcare, hospitality, and enterprise operations. Each one is grounded in actual roles, stacks, and architecture decisions — not invented case studies.

  • Designed approval workflows for requisition and recruitment
  • Investigated downtime, performance, and integration peculiarities
  • Made on-site infrastructure decisions alongside development

07 — Ministry & community engineering

Production systems for churches, ministries, and community work.

A parallel body of work that keeps me practicing pragmatic architecture at human scale: small teams, real users, real reliability expectations — and very real budget constraints.

01

Church & member management systems

Multi-tenant member directories, family/household relationships, role-based permissions, and admin tooling — modeled with Supabase, RLS, and PostgreSQL.

02

Volunteer management & scheduling

Role-aware volunteer rosters, ministry scheduling, availability, and notification flows. Designed to be operated by non-technical leads, not engineers.

03

Training & enrollment platforms

Course catalogs, enrollment workflows, attendance, and progress tracking — structured around clear state machines and approval steps.

04

Workflow & approval systems

Reusable approval engines for requests, sign-ups, financial flows, and event coordination, with audit trails baked in from day one.

05

QR-based attendance kiosks

Edge-function-backed QR check-in for services, classes, and events. Low-bandwidth-friendly, with offline-tolerant client behavior.

06

PWA member portals

Installable PWA portals so members get an app-like experience without app store overhead — push notifications, offline-friendly views, lightweight payloads.

07

Event registration & broadcasting

Event registration flows, push notification infrastructure, and SMS broadcasting architecture for time-sensitive announcements at congregational scale.

08

Public ministry & event websites

SEO and OG metadata engineered properly, fast first paint, and minimal client JS. Built to be shareable, discoverable, and cheap to host.

09

No-code production systems

Several of these systems are designed and operated on No-code + Supabase, treated with the same production discipline as enterprise work: RLS, edge functions, observability, and cost-aware patterns.
